Theater Arts – Who are Mummers?
Mime is a kind of theater arts where the performer depicts the whole theme with the help of action and without spelling a single word.Visit here now http://britainsgottalentvideos.blogspot.com
Such kinds of performers are known as mummers. Other genre of dances like break dance has many steps inspired from mime, the most famous being Michael Jackson’s moonwalk. Clowns also undergo training in mime.
Like most of the theater arts, the reason behind the birth of this art is the Greek and Roman theaters. The history of the origin of mime can be dated back to the 3rd century BC’s Theater of Dionysus in Athens. At that time the mime wasn’t completely speechless as the modern mimes. Although there was some dialogue delivery, it was minimum and there was chorus, which is the key element of the theaters at that time. Mime artist were known as Phylakes at that time.
The stories were tragic at first with a moral lesson at the end. Some of the well-known mime writers were Epicharmus, Decimus Laberius, Pubilius Syrus, Herodas and Sophron. After the downfall of Roman Empire, the mime artists were part of the court performers all over Europe. They were known as Saltator or Mimus and this was how the word mime was derived. Sword swallowers, short drama actors, acrobats and jugglers were also known by the name Mimus. On the basis of this patented dumb roles were invented as the coward husband, forgetful old man and many others. They further grew as a non-silent comedy in the Italian theaters as the dumb show, British Pantomime, Masque and Italian commedia Dell’arte.
In the modern times there are primarily two categories of Mime. The first type is named Pantomime in which the whole emphasis is on the body as a whole along with facial expressions, gestures and body language. There is hardly any place for props in this kind of mime. Instead the objects are imagined and an illusion is created for the audience. Here the facial expressions and movement of the body is exaggerated.
The second type is Corporeal Mime. It was developed because of the effort of people like Jacques Lecoq and Etienne Decroux. Here the body is used to express something that even words cannot express. Emotions and thoughts were expressed so as to make the invisible visible. This is done not by just over doing the daily gestures but by discovering the range of human body to its fullness. The modernized version also includes elements of other theater arts like dialogues, puppetry and writing.
A mime is always presented with a painted face with more concentration on the lips and eyes, by highlighting them with red and black color, respectively. White gloves are a necessity as it is used to increase the visibility of the movements of the hand. The costumes consist of a black suit with white lining, suspenders and a black hat.
There are many other countries that have their own type of mime depending on their culture. The best example is the Indian classical dance. Mukhabinaya or face and eyes expression was a part of the Indian dance Natya Shastra original to Bharat Muni Theater, which is an Indian version of mime. It includes a vast vocabulary of hand gestures and stylized positions. Illusions are created by Mime that interprets an action, landscape, and living being. Sometimes song and music of the instruments or the lightning movement of the dancer’s feet support the mime performance.Visit here now http://britainsgottalentvideos.blogspot.com

The Butcher’s Theater $4.19 They call the ancient hills of Jerusalem the butcher’s theater. Here, upon this bloodstained stage, a faceless killer performs his violent specialty: The first to die brutally is a fifteen-year-old girl. She is drained of blood, then carefully bathed and shrouded in white. Precisely one week later, a second victim is found. From the sacred Wailing Wall to the monasteries where dark secrets are cloistered, from black-clad bedouin enclaves to labyrinthine midnight alleys, veteran police inspector Daniel Sharavi and his crack team plunge deep into a city simmering with religious and political passions to hunt for a murderer whos insatiable taste for young women could destroy the delicate balance on which Jerusalem’s very survival depends. A brilliant novel by a master of the genre, a vivid look at the tortured complexities of a psychopath’s mind, a rich evocation of a city steeped in history — this, and more, is The Butcher’s Theater . Granada Theater Dallas, TX 04.27.08 $14.95 Gov’t Mule Granada Theater Dallas, TX 04.27.08 Hello Muddah, hello Faddah, the Mule just played a great show at The Granada. They say that everything is bigger in Texas. I can’t vouch for the rest of the state, but I know that tonight’s show was enormous. The band came out white hot with Blind Man In The Dark, Mr. High & Mighty and Bad Little Doggie for a set opening power trio. How Many More Years was to follow, and even without the Higher Ground Tease that was thrown in, this was the standard by which all others should be measured. Rocking Horse and Thorazine Shuffle were also delivered with passion and intensity. Raining Pain Down In New Orleans brought the slow groove with it, but the set ended on a very high note with Grace Potter and Scott Tournet lending their talents to Find The Cost Of Freedom-> Ohio. Set two began with an aptly named cover of Dallas that thrilled the crowd to no end. Andy delivered on Wandering Child and the whole band tore up the stage during Fallen Down-> The Other One Jam. The band rocked out their eponymous tune Mule to close the set, but the night was far from over. Returning to the stage, Blue Jean Blues was dusted off and made a spectacular re-appearance in to the repertoire, especially as Tin Pan Alley was snuck in the middle. Where the night should have ended, the band brought us Into The Mystic whereupon they made everyone’s Soulshine and bid a fond farewell to Dallas. What’s the difference between FLAC and MP3? Granada Theater Lawrence, KS 02.11.09 $14.95 Gov’t Mule Granada Theater Lawrence, KS 02.11.09 Hello Mudda, hello Fadda, the Mule jammed last night at The Granada. Although the stage was small, the music let loose from it couldn’t have been contained by the largest of stadiums. With a burning fire inside, the band unleashed a smoking triumvirate of tunes to light this firecracker of a show. Brand New Angel, Perfect Shelter and Streamline Woman were still smoldering in our ears as Larger Than Life melted into If 6 Was 9 and then back into Larger Than Life. Get Out Of My Life Woman fanned the flames of Birth Of The Mule and Temporary Saint and while Creep was brief respite from this white hot set, Trampled Underfoot burned the stage down to end the set. After a cooling off period in the crisp Kansas air, the band returned for set two and brought along a Patchwork Quilt to smother any embers that remained. However, the band went right into an incendiary Helter Skelter which only served as fuel for the melding of Hunger Strike and Dear Mr. Fantasy which followed. Silent Scream was intense and was both the lead into and follow up to Drums. Like Flies grooved all the way into the set closing Mule which prompted the crowd into such applause that the band returned and delivered both Champagne & Reefer and Gonna Send You Back To Georgia as the evening’s encore.
